Dennis Principal - Andrew Graber

Andrew Graber, Principal

 Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is with great delight and eagerness that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Dennis Middle School.  I feel honored and blessed for the opportunity to lead in a building with such a rich history and tradition of excellence and care.  Dennis Middle School is celebrating its 100th year anniversary this year. What an important and special time it is to join this family of educators and students as we usher in such a milestone and look to the future with continued hopes to reclaim and rebuild something amazing here at Dennis.

In regards to my vast and varied experiences as an educator, I feel so humbled to be stepping into such a position, for the first time, as your head Principal. Before joining Dennis, I served as an assistant principal at another middle school in Northern Indiana. Before entering administration, I was a classroom teacher in both elementary and middle school settings. I believe my wide range of experience with different age groups of students in a classroom setting will provide me with a wealth of knowledge on how best to work with students who have varied social, emotional, and academic needs.

I have a strong belief that the key to success for schools lies in the ability of educators and school staff to work together toward the benefit of students. Collaboration and communication amongst the adults in the building is essential in order to ensure that all of our students' needs are being met. In order for this important work to occur, I want you to know that the partnerships within this building, by teachers and staff, will pursue actions and steps toward figuring out what is best for our students and what they need. Here at Dennis, I want to make it “our business” to ensure student success: academically, socially-emotional, and behaviorally.

Another valuable belief that I hold is that educators in the building cannot do this important work alone. It will be essential that we, here at Dennis, continue to foster a partnership and commitment to working with parents, guardians, and community members in order to accomplish these important goals of ensuring student success. As your principal, it is so essential that our students’ families and guardians know that we want and need this important partnership, not because it makes everyone’s job easier, but because our partnership together will benefit our children and their future.

I also want to inform you that Kevin Handley has been selected as the Interim Assistant Principal at Dennis Middle School.
Mr. Handley is a native of Gary, Indiana.  He attended Earlham College, graduating with a degree in Politics and a minor in Legal Studies.   He also obtained a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration on curriculum and instruction.  Most recently, Mr. Handley completed his teacher certification from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Mr. Handley is excited to return back to the administrative landscape and looks forward to bringing additional innovative ideas to Richmond Community Schools.

Mr. Handley and I plan to make consistency, communication, and care the centerpoint of our leadership frameworks for how we accomplish these goals. We will be working closely with other building and community leaders in our district to make this a reality, but we want to encourage others who wish to reach out and be a part of this effort to do so. You may email us directly at agraber@rcs.k12.in.us or khandley@rcs.k12.in.us to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the second half of this school year.  Thank you and GO BULLDOGS!

Best regards,

Andrew Graber
